These brisk and malty brews are often made to be served with sweetener and a touch of milk. However the best black teas also taste naturally sweet and satisfying when brewed unadulterated.

CHINESE, TAIWANESE, & JAPANESE BLACK TEA

Black teas from East Asia offer a diverse range of surprising flavors, from chocolate to sweet potato to red wine. They tend to be naturally sweeter and less brisk than Indian or Sri Lankan teas and are typically served without milk or sugar to showcase their handmade characters.

CHAI (OUR SPECIALTY)

Our award-winning chai blends are prepared in-house and served in restaurants and cafes all over New England and beyond! We meticulously grind and blend best-quality herbs and spices with traditional teas to make a balanced and full-flavored cup. We also sample these blends regularly to ensure they taste consistent from batch to batch. The result is rich and aromatic chai that honors the tea's South Asian origin while playfully exploring new flavors, like cacao and vanilla bean. Simmer them in a mix of milk and water for a vibrant brew.

By our calculations, MEM Tea proudly helped cafes and restaurants serve nearly 2.5 million chai lattes last year. Since our blends are brewed loose leaf, this has kept almost 630,000 unrecyclable chai concentrate cartons from winding up in landfills annually.

BLACK PYRAMID TEA BAGS

Our teabags, or ‘pyramids’ contain the same high quality loose leaf tea and blends that we sell as whole leaf orthodox tea. The teas are blended in our warehouse in Wakefield, MA and sent to a facility that packages them into pyramids. The pyramids are roomy enough to allow the tea to unfurl and steep properly. Our tea bags are composed of Soilon which is a Polylactic acid (PLA)-based material that is biodegradable, and the seams are heat-sealed rather than sealed with plastic in order to maintain the integrity and safety of their makeup.

Black tea is such a broad and popular style of tea, it's definitely hard to choose how to brew it.
