Oolong teas occupy the wide expanse in between green teas, which are minimally oxidized and black teas, which are almost completely oxidized. These complex, dynamic teas are made through labor-intensive withering, rolling, bruising, shaping, and roasting. They're the most difficult teas to make and express a range of flavors.

Oolongs can taste bright and floral, juicy and fruity, or nutty and woody. We recommend steeping the leaves several times to discover their full personalities. Each steep will taste a little different, revealing a new aspect of the tea's character. Oolongs make a good first impression but reward repeat encounters.

OOLONG PYRAMID TEA BAGS

Our teabags, or ‘pyramids’ contain the same high quality loose leaf tea and blends that we sell as whole leaf orthodox tea. The teas are blended in our warehouse in Wakefield, MA and sent to a facility that packages them into pyramids. The pyramids are roomy enough to allow the tea to unfurl and steep properly. Our tea bags are composed of Soilon which is a Polylactic acid (PLA)-based material that is biodegradable, and the seams are heat-sealed rather than sealed with plastic in order to maintain the integrity and safety of their makeup.

IDEAL TEAWARE FOR OOLONGS

Oolongs are so beautifully diverse in there feels and flavors that you can brew them in any number of fun ways, but we really do recommend brewing this tea type using multiple, shorter steeps. This is called Gong Fu style, and can really bring out different distinct flavors in every round of hot water. Double the dose in smaller vessels and do 15-30 second steeps, with a slightly shorter duration with every turn. So enjoyable.
