MATCHA FROM MARUKYU KOYAMAEN

We are the United State's largest distributor of matcha from award-winning Marukyu Koyamaen, a highly regarded tea grower, procurer, and tea blender whose private tea estate, located in the heart of Uji, Kyoto, has a rich history dating back to 1704.

Koyamaen has strict quality control systems in place that target a wide variety of issues that can affect the quality, taste, and characteristics of their tea: Teas are kept fresh using a unique drying system that reduces moisture in the leaf to an incredibly low level which is verified by an infrared optical moisture meter. Since a vibrant color is essential to the matcha experience, a colorimeter is utilized to ensure that the matcha has a naturally vibrant hue. Finally, the particle size of the matcha is strictly controlled which ensures each particle is fine enough to deliver an easy-to-blend, smooth-tasting beverage.

MATCHA ACCESSORIES

Traditional matcha is prepared in a specific, ritualistic way. Of course, we don't mind if you stray from those methods and experiment, but these accessories are available if you're looking to delve into the ceremonial aspects of the green powdered tea. The chashaku (scoop), chasen (whisk), and chawan (bowl) are the bare essentials.

CHAI (OUR SPECIALTY)

Designed to be served with milk and sugar, but just as delicious on their own, our award-winning chai line-up has been served all over New England and beyond. We spent hours and hours across several years to develop these blends to mimic authentic Indian style beverages while bringing them into the western realm.

Another fun fact: by our calculation, through our wholesale program in the last year, MEM Tea has proudly helped cafes & restaurants around New England and the U.S. serve nearly 2.5 million chai lattes. AND since our wholesale customers brew the tea themselves using our loose leaf chai, this has prevented 630,000 unrecyclable chai concentrate cartons from entering landfills.
