Tea Tastings are free and open to the public. Every Thursday from 12 - 1!


April 27th: White Teas
Sample several varieties of white teas and compare and contrast appearance, aroma and flavor as it applies to region, quality and processing of the leaf.

May 4th: White Teas
Sample several varieties of white teas and compare and contrast appearance, aroma and flavor as it applies to region, quality and processing of the leaf.

May 11th: Chinese Green Teas
Sample a variety of green teas. Compare and contrast appearance, aroma and flavor as it applies to region, quality and processing of the leaf.

May 18th: Japanese Green Teas
Sample a variety of green teas. Compare and contrast appearance, aroma and flavor as it applies to region, quality and processing of the leaf.

May 25th: Oolong Teas
Sample a variety of Oolong teas and compare and contrast appearance, aroma and flavor as it applies to region, quality and processing of the leaf.

June 1st: Darjeeling
Sample a variety of First and Second Flush Darjeeling Teas and discover how terroir, harvest and processing affect the appearance, aroma and flavor of the leaf. Experiment with different brew times, temperatures and weights.

June 8th: Black Teas
Sample a variety of Black teas and compare and contrast flavor, appearance, aroma and liquor as it applies to region, quality, harvest and processing of the leaf.

June 15th: Chai Teas
Sample a variety of Chai Blends and compare and contrast the flavor, strength and balance of various spice blends and concentrations. Learn the best ways to prepare chai tea at home by the cup or by the pot.

June 22nd: Pu-Erh Teas
Sample a variety of Pu-Erh teas and compare and contrast flavor, appearance, aroma and liquor as it applies to region, quality and processing of the leaf.

June 29th: Rooibos Blends
Sample a variety of Rooibos blends and compare and contrast flavor, appearance, aroma and liquor as it applies to the variety and blend of herbs. Learn about the unique health benefits of rooibos tea.

July 6th: Herbal Teas
Sample a variety of Herbal blends and compare and contrast flavor, appearance, aroma and liquor as it applies to the variety and blend of herbs. Learn about the unique health benefits of different types of herbs.

July 13th: Cascarilla Blends
Sample a variety of our signature tea blends that are made with TAZA cacao shells. Sweet, spicy, earthy and floral, but above all, chocolaty!

July 20th: Yerba Mate
Sample several varieties of mates and compare and contrast appearance, aroma and flavor as it applies to region, quality and blend.

Tea Basics - 101

This one hour seminar introduces participants to the five different types of tea. We will explain and taste the differences between White, Green, Oolong, Black, and Pu-Erh teas. We will also learn the differences in the processing of the plants, the regions, and terroirs they come from, and the unique health benefits that each tea is known for.

Tea Brewing Techniques - 201

In this one hour workshop we will learn various techniques of tea brewing using modern and traditional tools and equipment. We will make and evaluate examples of the major tea varieties paying special attention to water, time, temperature, weight and brewing equipment. We will experiment with multiple steeps and compare the same tea brewed different ways. Students will learn how to ‘get to know’ new and unfamiliar teas and extend the tea making experience.

Name That Taste: Palate Development - 202


This class is offered every other Wednesday front 6:30-7:30PM.

In this one hour workshop we will learn the difference between taste and flavor. Explore the differences between sweet, savory, salty, and bitter. Identify outside influences that affect our perception of flavor. Taste a variety of examples of flavors in nature and try to connect them to flavor profiles in tea.

The First Teas of India: Taste the Harvest2017

Get a sneak peek at India’s first harvest of the year. Taste a variety of fresh Indian teas carefully selected and carried home in our tea trekker’s backpack. From fresh and floral Darjeelings to creamy malty Assams, the first picking is always the best and we brought some home from our travels to share with you. Explore the tea estates of Darjeeling and Assam while sampling a variety of delicious teas and learning a bit about the selection process.

Tea Cupping and Evaluation: Get To Know Your Tea

Learn how to cup like the pros. In this workshop we will brew a variety of teas in a professional and controlled environment. We will evaluate the quality and composition of the dried and steeped leaf as well as the brewed liquor. Employing all of our senses, we will analyse the appearance, aroma and flavor of the tea and record our results in a standard fashion. With experience, you will learn what to look for in quality whole leaf teas and enhance your tea buying experience.
